We now have to wait to get revenue from our music – Ohemaa Mercy

Ohemaa Mercy, a well-known gospel musician from Ghana, offered her observations on important shifts that have occurred in the gospel music sector.

She stated that artists are now required to wait for payment for their musical endeavors, in contrast to previous times.

 

She emphasized the transition from physical CD sales to digital and social media platforms in an interview with Bernice Owusuwaa on GhanaWeb TV’s Talkertainment.

 

“Initially, you could obtain your money immediately by visiting the distributors, and you would receive a substantial amount of money,” she clarified.

 

The procedure is now different due to the growth of digital and streaming platforms. Currently, artists cannot access their earnings until they have accumulated in digital accounts.

“Now that it is in your account, you have to wait for it to reach maturity before receiving it,” she said.

 

Notwithstanding the obstacles, Ohemaa Mercy is upbeat about the chances that digital platforms present to connect with a worldwide audience.

 

Her comments are made in the midst of debates about how artist music projects are sold digitally and physically.
