TikTok is the future of the music industry – Okyeame Kwame

Hip-hop musician Okyeame Kwame from Ghana has described the well-known video-sharing app TikTok as the upcoming big thing in the country’s music scene.

Recently, Okyeame Kwame said in an interview with YouTuber Kwadwo Sheldon that listeners now prefer to actively engage with music rather than just consume it.

“The days of producing only audio experiences have passed; content creators now want to engage with their audience. This extends beyond music videos, where viewers can interpret songs in their own unique ways and monetize them. No one can resist it,” he declared.

“Now that TikTok has arrived, I need to work with it, figure out what makes it interesting, and also become a TikToker myself so that it works for me for free, otherwise, in the next few years,” he continued, expressing interest in getting more involved in the platform’s content creation.

In his explanation of the choice, Okyeame Kwame said that he did not want to control all the fame and wealth, but rather have complete control over his life.

“My obsession is control. I find it unacceptable that someone else has control over a portion of my life because they could later use that information against me. For me to be in charge of that story, I must be a TikToker,” he declared.

The Rap Doctor, however, shot down claims that the music industry cannot survive without TikTok, saying, “That’s pushing it. So many songs can go viral without TikTok.”
