This Award “robbery” nonsense must stop- Lenny Akpadie fires at VGMA

Multiple award winning Ghanaian heavyweight Gospel singer Apostle Lenny Akpadie has descended heavily on Ghanaian award schemes for robbing nominees of their glory even when all indications prove they are the best choice for the honours.

The “Most High” singer bemoaned this unfortunate incidence keeps recurring year in year out and does not seems to end therefore must be addressed.

The 2008 VGMA most popular song of the year and gospel song of the year award winner emphasised he won the award on merit because his hard work during the year under review was unparalleled to his contenders. Even I deserved the gospel artiste of the year but was denied.

” I did not vote for my award neither did I canvass for votes but I won because it was highly obvious ”

In an interview on Kingdom plus entertainment show Apostle cited instances in which obvious winners of certain categories were robbed of their glory by awarding less deserved nominees.

Patience Nyarko’s “Obi nyane me ” song deserved 2017 gospel song of the year but she was denied of her hard earned glory by given the award to someone else whose song was comparatively less popular.

He also referenced another instance in which Fancy Gadam’s “Total cheat” won most popular song ahead of Patapaa’s “One Corner” in 2018. A lot of these errors can be mentioned in the last decade.

We can not sit down unconcerned and watch this happen without saying anything. These award schemes are there to honour, inspire, motivate and build the industry but it has rather become the reverse because a lot of musicians are going through pain and bitterness all because they have been denied of their well deserving glory which would have been their only lifetime chance.

“This nonsense must stop ” Apostle ended.
