Tems Says Artistes Shouldn’t Have Standards on How They Dress

Temilade Openiyi, a.k.a. Tems, the Nigerian music diva, has said that there should not be a dress code for artists.

In a recent interview with Essence Magazine, she emphasized that people’s individuality is what makes them special and stated that artists should express their own styles.

The record producer went on to say that her attire is a reflection of her genuineness rather than an effort to send a particular message.

 

“Even if someone else expects you to be someone else, you should be yourself. Whatever that may look like, when you are who you are, you automatically win. That explains the diversity.

 

“Each of us is unique and not meant to be the same. And while I am aware that there is a standard, there should not be one for how women or artists should dress in particular situations.

We are all different, in my opinion. There ought to be no prerequisite. She stated, “You should not have to comply with any kind of expectation or requirement regarding how you should dress.
