Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, other GH artistes react to Vybz Kartel’s release from prison
In celebration of Jamaican dancehall artist Vybz Kartel’s release from prison, Ghanaian musicians have taken to social media.

Among those expressing their happiness and congrats are Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Jay Bhad, and Kelvyn Boy.
After the Court of Appeals reversed Kartel’s murder conviction, he was set free on the grounds that a new trial was not necessary for the sake of justice. In 2014, Kartel was originally given a life sentence for the 2011 murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams, along with his co-accused Shawn “Storm” Campbell, Kahira Jones, and Andre St. John.
A notable figure in Caribbean music, Vybz Kartel (born Adidja Palmer) is well-known for his partnerships with Jay-Z and Rihanna. Kartel and his co-accused went through Jamaica’s longest trial—64 days—while maintaining their innocence. The Privy Council in London heard their successful appeal, bringing to light problems with juror behavior. The Court of Appeal ultimately decided to acquit the men, which sparked wild celebrations among admirers and other artists.
