Some male musicians demand sex from female artistes for features – Wendy Shay

The music industry is plagued by a problem that Ghanaian singer Wendy Asiamah Addo, better known by her stage name Wendy Shay, recently exposed: some male musicians demand sexual favours from female artists in exchange for opportunities to collaborate.

 

The singer of “African Money,” highlighting some of the difficulties faced by female musicians in the business, revealed that certain male musicians turn down requests from female musicians to be featured.

She emphasised that some male musicians who are approached by female artists for features sometimes demand sex in return.

 

Women in this industry are mostly disregarded because it is dominated by men. Women are prone to rejecting one another. When we truly want a feature, we receive a rejection from our male counterparts.

 

In an interview for TV3’s special International Women’s Day programme, she stated, “You see them feature a normal male upcoming artist, but an established female artist would like to have a feature from another male artist, and they want to be sexual, so these are some of the things that women face and have to go through in the industry.”

Wendy Shay stated, “I use my platform to push and encourage them,” in her mission to uplift emerging female artists. Upload all of their videos. I would like to be able to do more, financially speaking.”

 

The celebrated crooner gave women advice on how to maximise their potential and enhance their worth.
