ROCKY DAWUNI GRABS HIS 2ND GRAMMY NOMINATION

 

Ghanaian Afro root singer and performer, Rocky Dawuni has gained another nomination in the Grammy Awards scheme. The root singer, who is touted the *Bob Marley of Ghana* has been nominated in the 64th Grammy Awards in the Best Global Music Album category with the “Voice of Bundon Vol. 1”. The Afro root singer became the first Ghanaian to be nominated in the 58th Grammy Awards scheme in 2015 with his album, Branches Of The Same Tree.

Dawuni paid tribute to his roots, Bundon Nayili in Northern Ghana with the EP, Voice of Bundon Vol. 1 as he presents and projects music that is rooted in the deep cultural traditions of Ghana yet, presented in a modernized way. He has been an inspiration for most Reggae artistes in the country.

The 8 song EP explores the diversity of his “Afro Roots” sound fused with modern and traditional musical trends in Ghana and across the continent. “Voice of Bunbon Vol. 1” is a diversified experience with songs ranging from acoustic to beat-driven anthems to cultural explorations utilizing aspects of Afrobeats, Highlife, Reggae, Soul and Pop, and beyond.
