NPP Sacks Hopeson Adorye, Boniface Abubakar Saddique, Others For Campaigning For Alan Kyerematen
It was an unexpected development that prominent party figures like Nana Ohene Ntow, Hopeson Adorye, Boniface Abubakar Saddique, and Buaben Asamoa were kicked out of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for their outspoken endorsement of Alan Kyerematen.
In a press statement released on Monday, November 20, 2023, the party’s leadership claimed that these members’ termination was due to their open support of a presidential candidate other than Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s elected flagbearer.

Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party’s general secretary, signed the statement, which describes this endorsement as a violation of the party’s constitution, specifically Articles 3(5) (A)(4) and 3(9)(1). The party leadership made it clear that the four expelled members’ actions violated the party’s ideals and that, as a result, their membership had been revoked.
“The New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership has observed that Hopeson Adorye, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, Nana Ohene Ntow, and Boniface Abubakar Saddique have been publicly endorsing the candidature of an individual who is not the Party’s legitimately elected presidential candidate, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia. Even after blatantly violating the Party’s Constitution, specifically Articles 3(5)(A)(4) and 3(9)(1), the men mentioned above continue to identify as NPP members.

“All Party members are obligated to ‘abide by and publicly uphold the decisions of the Party,’ for the avoidance of doubt,’ according to Article 3(5)(A)(4) of the NPP Constitution,” the statement continued.
