Nollywood Is Not A Ground For BBLs, Thieves And Sex Workers – Kanayo O Kanayo
Anayo Modestus Onyekwere, better known as Kanayo O Kanayo, a legendary Nollywood actor and producer, has spoken about the state of the Nigerian film industry, emphasising the need to make the industry an avenue for creativity rather than otherwise.
According to him, the film industry should not be a breeding ground or an opening for homosexuals, Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), and cooperative sex workers, among others, but rather an avenue for creativity.
The renowned actor stated candidly in an interview with Afia TV that Nollywood should not be a place for amateurs, but rather for talented professionals. He did, however, state that anyone is welcome to work in the film industry, but they must first demonstrate a ‘calling for acting.

He elaborated, saying, “Nollywood should not be a breeding ground for BBL; bum bum enlargement.” Nollywood should not be a breeding ground for people on the run. Nollywood should not be a place where people’s money is stolen in hotels. All these Nollywood girls are not a breeding ground for homosexuality or lesbianism. It is a fertile ground for imagination. Nollywood is not a place to learn how to act. Many people come to learn how to act in Nollywood. You are supposed to come to the industry to hone your skills and improve your abilities. Many girls, after hearing Genevieve Nnaji is a millionaire and Omotola Akande is a billionaire, would borrow wigs and enter the movie industry, deceiving themselves.

“We all have different jobs.” Everyone is welcome, but the real question is whether or not you have a calling to be an actor. The fact that your neighbour says you can act does not imply that you are an actor. To work in Nollywood, you must have some level of education.” It makes no difference if you study medicine and want to be an actor. But, for God’s sake, do not come because you are struggling or because your business has slowed. Because most people become actors after their businesses fail. No na. For you to be a medical doctor, you need to have put in seven years. I put in six years to become a lawyer. So, why do you think you would just come and say you want to act? These days, you know what happens? If you’re a girl, whether you are fine or not, And if you have a Jeep SUV, filmmakers will ask you to become an actress because they want to use your car nonstop in that movie and another movie. They will give you one role to play.
“People brag about the industry because some want to sell sex, others want to sell their bodies, others want to do this, and so on.” And it is not good for the industry. Everyone, however, is welcome. However, it is Instagram stars who are giving the industry a bad name. And I do not want anyone to join them because they only have a short time before they fade away,” he added.
