My feature with Beyonce was the last chance God gave our music industry – Shatta Wale
Renowned Ghanaian dancehall performer Charles Nii Armah Mensah, better known as Shatta Wale, recently discussed his outlook for the country’s music sector.
In a Friday, February 16, 2024, interview with 3Music Networks, the “Melissa” hitmaker stated that his partnership with Beyoncé represented the final opportunity God gave Ghana’s music industry to flourish.
In his comparison of the major award schemes of the Nigerian and Ghanaian music industries, he raised the question of benefits for the Artiste of the Year winners in each nation.

“Let us be honest; there are awards being held in other areas. They are flying their artist of the year to Dubai, and they can not even make it to the Ghana Music Awards,” he remarked.
Shatta said that the industry has missed out on opportunities to succeed because the wrong people are given too much credit.
“When people are talking about Nigeria, I don’t want them to continue because I feel like Ghana got their chance. Let me tell you the last chance God gave us: Shatta Wale, featuring Beyonce. But, you see, we want to watch the coat, man. We want to watch,” he added.
