My dad made me hate God even though he was a pastor – Spyro
Spyro, the well-known Nigerian musician, Oluwasanmi David, has recently discussed his experience with religion.
In his speech, Spyro described his childhood in the Mushin neighbourhood of Lagos, describing his experiences as the son of a pastor and how his father caused him to grow disenchanted with God.

During an interview on the most recent Tea with Tay Podcast, the ‘Who is your Guy’ hitmaker disclosed that his father was extremely strict and would punish him and his siblings for any misbehaviour.
“As a pastor, you know how pastors treat their children, so my father was pretty strict. “They are very strict because they believe that their children should be the ones who.” Taymesan then added, “Well, we dey spoil pass,” to which Spyro nodded in agreement.
Though his father was a pastor, the well-known crooner acknowledged that he was under a lot of pressure to conform to rigid values, which caused him to dislike religion in his early years.

There is indeed a lot of pressure. But despite being right in front of a Bible, I did not even know God through my dad. I was compelled to read the Bible every morning when we woke up, so I was ignorant of God’s identity. My father taught me to despise God and God’s essence,” he continued.
The singer, who also serves as a songwriter, went on to say that the habit of rising early for church and being surrounded by the Bible all the time led to a bad impression of religion. He emphasised that even though he was raised in a religious household, he discovered that we were able to enjoy religion independently of his father’s ministry.
