Musicians Have The Power To Keep Politicians On Their Toes – Ras Kuuku

Ghanaian Reggae/ Dancehall artiste, Ras Kuuku, born Kojo Korankye has echoed the power possessed by musicians over those with the governance authority of the country.  He had an interesting conversation with JKD on TV XYZ’s X Zone on Friday, August, 12, 2022.

The Dome based singer revealed that he does music about various things.  Therefore, when politicians are voted for, and they’re unable to fulfill their promises, it is in place for them to answer to the populace.  ‘I chose good music because it is food for the soul.  We, the musicians have the power to trumpet the needed displeasures of the people’ he added.

The Nwansena hit maker confirmed that he and his colleagues, including Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy had to put in some hardwork to project the Reggae Dancehall genre when they popped up from 2010.   ‘Many industry personalities have gotten a lot of eyeballs, wealth and awards from this particular genre.  It was very difficult for the genre to be accepted due to the perception that we’re violent just because we try our possible best to protect and defend our territory.  Now that the genre has been accepted, it can also be used as a tool for developing the country’ Ras Kuuku revealed.

Ras Kuuku is ready to release his next studio album.  ‘For 2022, we have 33&1 album, which we’re promoting… 33&1 stands for the number of days we have in a week.  The full album will be out on 30th of July although I have two of them out already’ The Reggae artiste added when asked about his new project.  Some of the songs on the album are out on the various music digital stores.  He also assured his fans to expect The 33&1 Concert on the Dome Park.
