Music Producer Quick Action Blasts successive gov’ts for Ignoring Special Needs in Creative Sector

People with special needs frequently confront enormous obstacles in many societies as a result of a lack of opportunities and support.

They are often disregarded in spite of their special abilities and promise, especially in the creative industries, where their influence has the potential to be revolutionary. Governments’ inability to create inclusive environments has made it difficult for many of these people to get the support and acknowledgment they require in order to succeed.

Quick Action, a well-known Ghanaian music producer who goes by Joseph Appiah in private, has expressed disappointment with government after government over their inability to create a welcoming environment in the creative industry for kids with special needs.

According to Quick Action, people with special needs have unique creative talents and skills that, with the right support, could greatly improve the industry.

Overcoming dyslexia, Joseph has become one of Ghana’s top music producers, crafting hits for well-known musicians like TicTac, Samini, Ohemaa Mercy, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, and Cindy Thompson.

In a conversation with Graphic Showbiz on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, the producer credited his success to his determination and the support he received. However, he expressed concern that many others with special needs are being overlooked due to a lack of opportunities and well-structured policies.

He stressed that people with unique abilities could reach their full potential in the creative industry if the right policies and support networks were in place.

“My criticism isn’t about this government but about both past and present governments that have turned a blind eye to this very important issue that could change the lives of many people with special abilities,” he remarked.

As Ghana heads into an election year, Quick Action noted his disappointment with the political landscape, observing, “It seems like you get attention or mention when you are loud enough for your voice to be heard, which shouldn’t be the case.”

In closing, he urged the government to act forcefully, stating, “Given the global trend, it is imperative that our government take tangible measures to establish an inclusive atmosphere that facilitates the success of individuals with special needs in the creative industry.”
