Highlife music should be appreciated by consumers, according to Ghanaian music diva Adina Thembi Ndamse, better known by her stage name Adina.

She stressed that even though she experiments with different musical genres, her upbringing has made high-life music come naturally to her.

In an interview with Joy FM’s Kwame Dadzie on Showbiz A-Z, the ‘Why’ hitmaker discussed her opinions on the preservation of highlife and emphasized the significance of music lovers supporting highlife, saying that this would inspire more musicians to pursue the genre.

Adina emphasized the need for deliberate efforts to embrace the genre and further urged the industry and consumers to support high-life music.
“High-life music should be welcomed when it is released by artists. Many people should contribute to its growth because, in my experience, most Ghanaians follow trends. As a result, if a popular genre emerges, kids will likely promote it through their songs, and media outlets may even wish to support it.

“Let us deliberately play highlife music. The younger generation will be more drawn to it and want to taste it the more we promote it because, in the end, most artists are just looking for a hit song. If the industry supports what highlife artists want to do in order to become successful, I believe this will inspire them. They will become discouraged, though, if they believe that highlife is only for the elderly and that it is not played at parties or clubs.

Therefore, I believe that the industry—which includes consumers—must purposefully support us, since they are people living in the house. That ought to be deliberate. We should all enjoy high-life music together,” she declared.
