It’s not true! – Kaywa denies sabotaging Mr. Drew during 2017 MTN Hitmaker

Kaywa, the CEO of Highly Spiritual Music, has denied allegations that he sabotaged Ghanaian musician Mr. Drew during the 2017 MTN Hitmaker competition.

He was astounded by the assertions because Mr. Drew did not see his scoresheet to draw the conclusion that he did not give him adequate marks to help him win.

The CEO of the Highly Spiritual Music label stated that he supported Mr. Drew in winning the contest, but his failure to garner enough votes resulted in his defeat.

Kaywa stated in an interview with Abeiku Santana on United Television (UTV) on September 11, 2023, that he had no ill will towards Mr. Drews during the 2017 MTN Hitmaker contest, but he lost due to a lack of votes.

“I do not know if he saw my scoresheet to confirm I sabotaged him,” he said.

“In my opinion, he [Mr. Drew] should have won, but votes helped Freda win the competition.” “I called him after the event to encourage him not to give up because he was very good at his craft on stage,” Kaywa added.

Kaywa went on to explain how he signed Mr. Drew following the MTN Hitmaker contest in 2017 and clarified that he did not pay him but rather invested in the artist, particularly his music videos.

“After the MTN hitmaker in 2017, I expected to hear from him, but I didn’t, so I called him and decided to start something by assisting him.” I did not pay him to sign. Every label has their own style.

“As for us [Highly Spiritual Music], we invest in you and take care of you with whatever money we have.” As a result, the majority of our videos are quite expensive, to the point where the money could be used to start a business. We made some very expensive videos for Mr. Drew. So I am not sure where that conversation [Kaywa not signing Mr. Drew with money] is coming from. “We believe that our success is our product,” he explained.
