“It’s Embarrassing and Painful” – Sonnie Badu Lashes Out at GFA Over Black Stars’ Failure to Qualify for AFCON 2025
Ghanaian gospel artist and preacher, Sonnie Badu has expressed his disappointment with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following the Black Stars’ 2-1 defeat to Niger on Monday, November 18, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
This loss officially ended Ghana’s hopes of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, marking a significant setback for the four-time AFCON champions.
In a social media post, the crooner wrote, “It’s both embarrassing and painful to watch—I’m truly at a loss for words. To GFA, thank you for letting us down. I hear the players are unhappy, and at this rate, you’ll soon be begging people to show up.”
Ghana’s journey to AFCON 2025 had been fraught with challenges, including a pivotal 1-1 draw against Angola on November 15, which put their qualification hopes in jeopardy.
