I’m the originator of Afro-Gospel music – Joseph Matthew

Afro-Gospel music is a vibrant fusion of African rhythms and instrumentation with Christian themes, and its creator is the award-winning gospel singer Joseph Matthew from Ghana.

Joseph Matthew said, “I am the creator of Afro-gospel music,” in an exclusive interview with GhanaWeekend. There was no such thing as an afro-gospel genre. My first song, “Nyame Ye,” was released before I moved to Ghana. I chose to call my song “Blessed,” which won a song award, “Afro-Gospel” because it blends two genres together. I came to Ghana to promote it.

His songs, which have lovely rhythms, midtempo melodies, and enticing drum and bass beats, are a great source of inspiration for Christians.
