Following the passing of his 100-year-old grandmother, Ghanaian hilife and afrobeat singer Kuami Eugene has announced a temporary hiatus from social media.
On Saturday, May 27, the singer of the hit song “Angela” announced the death of his grandmother on Twitter.
He announced that he would take some time off of social media to grieve with his family the loss of his beloved “Obaa-panyin Grace Adomaa alomg.
This is the first time I’ve lost someone really dear and close to my heart, and it’s not a pretty feeling at all. 100 years of love and care for everyone. I’m staying off social media for a few weeks to mourn my grandmother.
Kuami Eugene, born Eugene Marfo, is one of Ghana’s current and most-celebrated music stars.
He won the ultimate award at the 21st edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Award for Artist of the Year in 2019.
Kuami Eugene has always acknowledged the importance of his grandmother in his upbringing and success, despite his enormous fame and popularity.
