I’m humbled by the recognition at 67th Independence Day – Amerado

With his song taking centre stage at the recently concluded 67th Independence anniversary celebration, Ghanaian rap sensation Derrick Sarfo Kantanka, better known in showbiz as Amerado Burner, is beaming with pride and happiness.

This comes after the artist’s hit song “Kweku Anase”—which marked a major turning point in his career—was chosen to be President Akufo-Addo’s official entrance song.

On March 6, 2024, as President Akufo-Addo entered the anniversary grounds in Koforidua, the crooner’s phenomenal hit served as the background music.

Speaking with Tony Best on Akoma FM last Saturday on Entertainment 360, Amerado said it was a privilege and that he was thrilled to have his song played at such an event. The rapper ecstatically conveyed how honoured he is to have his work provide the musical underscoring for a momentous occasion of national importance.

I owe a huge debt of gratitude to the Independence Anniversary organisers; this is a huge gesture of love.

“Although many songs in Ghanaian music are becoming very popular, I am humbled that my song is being played at the highest point of the country’s assembly. Consequently, I should continue doing well,” Amerado stated.
