I will never be grateful for this – Ayra Starr disappointed in Headies awards
Ayra Starr, a Nigerian music sensation, has expressed her dissatisfaction with the Headies Awards for failing to announce the award category she won on stage during the 16th edition of the prestigious award show.
The Headies Awards came to an abrupt end on September 3, 2023, at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, USA, leaving 13 categories unannounced on stage, including Best Female Artiste, Best Recording of The Year, and Songwriter of The Year.
Ayra Starr, who was named Best Female Artiste of the Year, took to Twitter to express her displeasure with the situation, saying she would not be grateful for winning an award that would not be announced on stage.

She chastised the organisers for their perceived lack of appreciation for the efforts of female artists in the industry.
“Each and every one of us works extremely hard!” I have seen Tiwa record four hit songs in one night; Tems lives and breathes music; we did not deserve such casualness! Nigeria, you didn’t raise me to settle for less,” Ayra Starr declared.
Many viewers and attendees agreed, calling the decision not to present the female award on stage disrespectful to the female side of the music industry.
