I Was Not Tasked By The NPP To Compose A Campaign Song For Them – Kwabena Kwabena

Celebrated Highlife Artiste, Kwabena Kwabena has cleared the misconceptions in the public domain about celebrities who show up in support for a political party.  The highlife artiste released a campaign song titled, ‘Vote Number 1’, which was produced by Wei Ye Oteng in support of the NPP in 2016.

Most people think these celebrities are contracted by these politicians with huge sums of money for their campaign activities in favor of the said political party.

‘I did the song for free because I really loved the president but I made sure I didn’t attack any political party’ the Royal Lady hit maker explained.  He campaigned for the New Patriotic Party’s Nana Addo Dankwah Akoffo-Addo for a period of time but he explained with regrets that he recently got to understand that being a politician is the most lucrative job in Ghana and the constitution is designed to favor the the leaders of the country.

The Highlife singer and guitarist was introduced to the Ghanaian Music scene with his evergreen song, Asor, which features rapper, Kontihene and was produced by legendary sound engineer, Apietus.


Kwabena Kwabena lamented on the challenges artistes go through and why it is frustrating for people to insinuate that artistes are charging exorbitant amounts for their service.  ‘With all the things normal individuals enjoy that we’ve been deprived of, we need to enjoy a little luxury which is free of complaints.

Kwabena also explained that he wouldn’t want the young talents to experience what he and his coequals passed through.  He mentioned that the unpleasant tradition has been already extended to the young artistes, which includes Black Sheriff and a few others.

The artiste, who is known for his great love songs and splendid stage performances is currently promoting his latest song, Fingers.  He also featured on the remix of Epixode’s banging song, Atia.
