I want to be the President of Ghana – Guru
The well-known Ghanaian artist Guru has expressed his desire to lead Ghana as president.
Guru, well-known for his significant music career, was asked if he would like to become president of Ghana in an interview on TV3, to which he responded, “Yes, and I will.”
He said that his motivation is to address the issues that the majority of people face and to empower people.
He has kept up a scandal-free persona throughout his career and has always tried to inspire and uplift those around him.
“Knowing what the people want, making wise decisions, and being open and responsible are all necessary for being a leader. Have there ever been any Guru scandals during my career as a musician?
“I have always made an effort to lead a life that inspires others. Our lives are meant to be used to empower and serve others. I have given my community a lot of support. I make every effort to give everyone around me as much power as I can. Thus, will I not empower the masses if I have the chance to lead them?” He stated.
When Guru looked back on his choice to run for SRC President at the University of Ghana, he said it was an attempt to demonstrate his leadership potential and a reaction to the difficulties that students were facing.
He drew attention to problems like the antiquated use of ID cards, the exorbitant cost of tuition, and the dearth of sufficient medical facilities on campus.
Guru expressed disapproval of the existing system, pointing out that students must pay exorbitant costs for medical exams and other services.
He suggested fixes, like replacing ID cards with biometric systems and building more easily accessible medical facilities on campus.
Students currently have to pay 700 Ghana cedis to take exams. Is it for health assessments? I do not understand why there needs to be a balance. He contended, “These are students; they are not employed.
Guru emphasized the significance of making necessary services accessible and reasonably priced while calling for a decrease in fees and improved support for students.
Guru’s remarks follow those of fellow Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei, who also recently declared his ambition to lead Ghana as president.
