I suffered depression and I only saw death- Evang. Amy Newman Reveals

Amy Newman, a well-known Ghanaian gospel musician and evangelist, has spoken out about a depressive episode that nearly killed her.

According to her, she went through a lot four years ago, and all she kept seeing was death. She claimed that she had to be delivered spiritually before she could be rescued.

The ‘Tsie Me Moborosu’ hitmaker made this revelation during a candid interview with Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson, the host of Connect FM’s Omanbapa morning show.

“Four years ago, I went through a lot; that was my downtime.” During those four years, I struggled with depression and only saw death. “I could lock myself in a room, and the only thing on my mind was death,” she explained.

The gospel singer, who is also a songwriter and composer, went on to say that her latest single, ‘Makoma Ahye Ma,’ was inspired by her recovery from depression.

“I wrote this song (Makoma Ahye Ma) in 2009, but after my depression, I decided to release it as a form of gratitude to God.”
