I started my studio in my mother’s kitchen at age 17 – Kuami Eugene
Celebrated highlife and afrobeat singer/songwriter Eugene Kwame Marfo, better known by his stage name Kuami Eugene, hails from humble beginnings in Ghana. He shares that his first studio was set up in the centre of his family’s home.
At the tender age of 17, the “Monica” hitmaker reportedly started a remarkable journey to music stardom in his mother’s kitchen. The crooner emphasised that after realising he had talent, his mother did not think twice about clearing out her kitchen and letting him use it as a studio, adding that she would stop at nothing to see him happy.

Claiming to have always known he would be wealthy but not a household name in the music industry, the multi-award-winning singer, who is known for his soulful voice and captivating tunes, made this claim. He emphasised that because he was such a gifted singer and had written songs and performed with some of the biggest artists, even at the tender age of 17, he knew he would become wealthy.
“I always thought I would become wealthy, but I never thought I would end up the person I am today. I knew that the things I was pursuing would make me wealthy, even at the age of seventeen. Along with recording Wutah, I was also penning and producing songs for a few gospel musicians.

“Back in the day, I used to get approached by well-known artists on the street. I was recording in Wutah back when no one knew who I was. That being said, I have been doing this since I was a young boy. My mother had to move out of the kitchen to cook outside when I set up my studio there. She would stop at nothing to make me happy because she loved me so much. Thus, I eventually acquired additional equipment that enabled me to finish the studio, and after that, I received recommendations from some artists,” he stated.
