I really suffered when I went into politics – Maame Dokono
Maame Dokono, a seasoned actress and media personality from Ghana, and Grace Omaboe, recently talked about the challenges she encountered when entering the political arena.

The well-liked personality in Ghana’s entertainment sector entered politics in an attempt to have a significant influence. But she quickly found that the political environment was very different from the entertainment industry. Among the many challenges she faced were betrayal, close scrutiny, and an unrelenting barrage of personal assaults.
During the press conference for her upcoming memoir, “The Unforgettable,” the renowned actress recounted her difficult and disheartening experiences while serving in the political field.
“It becomes problematic if you are in politics and your government loses… I must admit that after I joined the two parties, I suffered greatly. She said, “I decided not to do it again because of what I am doing.”

During the Jerry John Rawlings era, Maame Dokono entered politics after becoming well-known for her work as the host of By the Fire Side and as an Akan drama series on GTV. Because of her relationship with former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, she first allied herself with the National Democratic Congress (NDC). However, when Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was appointed flagbearer for the NPP in 2008, she changed her political allegiance to the NPP. However, after the NPP lost the election, this choice caused a large backlash.
Maame Dokono intends to celebrate her impending 60th birthday in the entertainment business on September 7, 2024, with a number of events, such as a health screening and the publication of her book. She has expressed regret over the difficulties brought on by her political affiliations and has pledged to abstain from politics despite her prior involvement in the field.
