I like Kofi Kinaata and Akwaboah for their originality, they barely sample – Producer Kwame Mickey

Legendary music producer, Kwame has revealed that high life artists, Kofi Kinaata and Akwaboah are his favourite acts; he loves them for their originality and their artistry.

Speaking with Remedi Entertainment’s Sharon Onella, Kwame indicated that despite the need for contemporary artists to sample, Kofi Kinaata loves to be authentic with his music.

“I like Kofi Kinaata’s songs. He writes very good songs and his songs make a lot of sense. I’ve never heard any bad about him concerning sampling tapping someone’s music. He always creates,” he said.

In response to whether he would prefer a sampled song to an original, Kwame said “Sampling is not bad and it’s in fashion now so everyone is doing it. The audience also loves it but when you talk of good music now, it’s Kofi Kinaata and Akwaboah. They are doing very well.”

Moreover, the ace producer disclosed that he like Kuami Eugene‘s music but the sampling is too much.

Kwame Mickey has produced over 70 albums with about 40 musicians in all. He has worked with Amakye Dede, his brother Kaakyire Kwame Appiah, Cecilia Marfo, Dr Paa Bobo, Uncle Ato, Paa Solo, Terry Bonchaka, Castro, among others.
