I don’t focus on winning award anymore – Strongman

The renowned Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) are no longer the centre of attention for Vincent Kwaku Osei, better known by his stage name Strongman, the rap sensation from Ghana.

Strongman has chosen not to give these awards any more priority because of his ongoing losses, even though he has been nominated for Best Rapper five times in a row.

Strongman’s hit song “Dear God” has earned him another nomination this year for Best Rapper. He did, however, clarify that he no longer has high expectations for the awards night in an interview with Tony Best on Akoma Mmre on Akoma FM.

“I have been nominated for Best Rapper six times in a row, and this is my fifth consecutive nomination, but my nominations have always ended in disappointment. So as not to add to your frustration, I would rather not focus on it,” Strongman said.

Strongman noted that his experiences in the past have motivated him to focus his energies on more important endeavours.

“Even though I consistently submit my work for review, I never receive acknowledgement. I must therefore focus my time and energy on things that will help me stay current and consistently delight my audience,” he said.

For the past four years, Strongman has refrained from posting about his nominations on social media or urging his fans to vote for him. He believes that focusing on his music and other projects will bring him more satisfaction and success.

As Strongman continues to concentrate on his career and fan engagement, music enthusiasts can look forward to another grand music festival. The Premium Awards, celebrating its 25th anniversary, will take place on June 1 at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
