I didn’t know who Piesie Esther was until I heard all the buzz on her ‘Waye Me Yie’ song- Sonnie Badu
Award-winning Ghanaian gospel singer Sonnie Badu has said he never knew who Piesie Esther was until her song, ‘Waye Me Yie’ got popular.
Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime’s ‘Showbiz A-Z, the founder of Rockhill Church in Atlanta acknowledged gospel minister Piesie Esther for the hard work she put into the song and her big win as the 2023 VGMA Gospel Artiste of the Year.
“I didn’t know Piesie until I heard a lot of people talk about ‘Waye Me Yie’.
“Piesie is well-packaged from visuals to graphics to everything, so whoever is behind her has to push her because the visuals are good and she is a showgirl; you can see that,” he said.
According to Sonnie Badu, he has billed Piesie Esther for his upcoming programme scheduled for December 9, 2023.
Sonnie Badu further commended the likes of Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, and Black Sherif for their efforts and contributions to the music industry through their crafts.
Speaking on the issue of Black Sherif winning the 2023 Artist of the Year over Piesie Esther,
The ‘Baba’ singer said, “Black Sherif has had a very good track record, which if we are looking for a Ghana agenda, and we need someone to go win the BET and go compete, in this season, it was good for Blacko to take the award, there was a season, myself and Shatta Wale Artiste of the Year category, Shatta took it, and I understood it.
He continued, “Black Sherif just won a BET award recently; if he didn’t win the local, he wouldn’t have gone to take the international because they will ask you what you won, and it works like that; if you had not won the main artist of the year in your country, how do you come and compete over there?”
