Speaking on the issue of Black Sherif winning the 2023 Artist of the Year over Piesie Esther,

The ‘Baba’ singer said, “Black Sherif has had a very good track record, which if we are looking for a Ghana agenda, and we need someone to go win the BET and go compete, in this season, it was good for Blacko to take the award, there was a season, myself and Shatta Wale Artiste of the Year category, Shatta took it, and I understood it.

He continued, “Black Sherif just won a BET award recently; if he didn’t win the local, he wouldn’t have gone to take the international because they will ask you what you won, and it works like that; if you had not won the main artist of the year in your country, how do you come and compete over there?”
