Contemporary highlife artiste/songwriter Daddy Boat stated that he cannot compare or compete with Highlife musician Daddy Lumba because he is a legend.
The musician claimed to have been listening to Daddy lumba since 1996 when he (Daddy Boat) was selling cassettes.
Daddy Boat was questioned by OPD on Adom FM about his admiration for Lumba and why he followed in his footsteps. He said, “I believe I sing like Daddy Lumba, and I am not the one who wants to sing like him, but that is how it has happened. Listening to him has influenced how I sing, and I can’t change it.”
OPD quizzed him on what his intentions were and whether he saw Daddy Lumba as a competitor, Daddy Boat said he can’t compete or challenge him because he is a legend and the young ones always learn from the old.
Daddy Boat revealed he started writing songs while in JHS and was part of the Methodist choir for five years.
