I almost took my life due to fake news, trolls – Fella Makafui
Performer turned socialite Fella Makafui has revealed how she nearly took her own life as a result of fake news and online harassment.
In an April 29 interview with Hitz FM, the mother of one revealed that she was the victim of a fabricated news article that severely damaged her emotions and nearly caused her to consider suicide.
“In 2019, some misinformation got out there. My possession was there.
“My manager just called me while we were in a meeting. “I know you would not do this, precious, but this is what is happening,” he says. Is that accurate, could you please? “Richie, I can never do something like that,” I said.
“It crushed me. “I nearly ended my life,” she uttered.
Makafui clarified that she refrained from publicly responding to or defending herself against those rumours as a result of the experience.

She said she would rather concentrate on her interactions with people in real life and ignore the critical remarks.
I do not appear in public to defend myself, offer an explanation, or redress any wrongdoing regarding specific news. It is because, at one point in my life, trolling and other things just gave me the illness.
You are free to say whatever you want about me right now. That is alright. You are not familiar with me. Social media is all that. This is how life really is.
“My identity is known to the few good people in my life. Given that I came dangerously close to suicide, I do not think I need to say or do as much to support a position,” the woman remarked.
The words of Fella Makafui align with the growing attention being paid to the mental health of creatives.
Prominent figures have discussed stardom, social media, and its impact on their mental health, including Kuami Eugene, Wendy Shay, Kidi, and Mzvee, among others.
