How I escaped being gang-raped during SHS Interco – Diana Hamilton
The new song, “The Doing of the Lord,” which features Nigeria’s Mercy Chinwo, was inspired by a traumatic incident Diana Hamilton, a gospel singer from Ghana, recently shared during her time as a secondary school student at Ghana National College.
The ‘Adom’ hitmaker recalled a difficult event in which her school mother, during her freshman year, put her in a position where she was nearly ganged up on and raped by her seniors, during an interview with Naa Ashorkor on the ‘New Day’ programme.
Reflecting on the incident, Diana explained, “I went to Ghana National, and it was an interco and a sixth former literally sold me out to some big boys, and it took the hand of God not to have been raped, and I look at that, and it was the doing of the Lord that snatched me out of there, and I was that close.”
The 2021 VGMA Artiste of the Year winner described how, after being taken away by her seniors, a miraculous series of events brought her to the streets of Kotokraba in Cape Coast.
