Netizens, including famous people, have reacted in varying ways to the leader of the New Force Movement, Nana Kwame Bediako’s proposal to dredge a sea in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional Capital.
The presidential candidate, also going by the name Cheddar, stated that he hopes to open up Ghana’s eastern and western corridors to facilitate trade. He made this statement in an interview with Abusua FM in Kumasi.

Cheddar stated that he has seen desert areas like Dubai extend marine transport routes inland and that this initiative is very feasible.
“I have travelled a great distance. I have seen that happen in a lot of nations. Dubai, once a typical desert city, now boasts a sea. My vision for the Ashanti Region is exactly that. Ships can dock in Kumasi once the sea is dredged into the area,” he said.
Nonetheless, some celebrities have responded to this statement on Twitter in a very positive way.

Those who have since opposed Cheddar’s presidential candidature include some who claimed that his most recent statements support their position.
