‘High fees have led to fewer bookings for top artistes’ – Music Executive highlights
Afrobeat’s popularity has recently declined, which has alarmed Paul Okoye, the festival’s head of media, and One Africa Music Festival.
He points out that, in comparison to prior years, fewer performance bookings have caused many artists to go through a slump this year.

According to Okoye, promoters are being discouraged from booking artists for events by their exorbitant fees, rather than the lack of gigs being solely due to global economic challenges.
He says that in order for artists to modify their prices appropriately, they need to become more aware of the state of the economy and the difficulties that come with it.

In his comments, Paul Okoye alluded to the recent public altercation that broke out on social media between Afrobeat artists Davido and Wizkid.
The two musicians’ dispute over their status in the music business attracted a lot of media attention.
