GHAMRO should be managed by international copyright experts – Flowking Stone

A global copyright specialist is required to oversee the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), according to Kwaku Nsia Boamah, better known by his stage name Flowking Stone.

The “Go Low” hitmaker expressed his annoyance, saying that he finds it quite puzzling that GHAMRO has had trouble handling royalties in an efficient manner.

He thinks that hiring a foreign specialist could offer a crucial remedy.

“To start with, regarding GHAMRO’s predicament, it would be preferable if we handed it over to an international private company to handle on our behalf if they are capable of doing so.

“Let them handle ours for us; we have been whining about the conditions at GHAMRO for a while, and the majority of these foreign businesses with copyright have been entering the nation.”

The long-term effects of not being able to rely on GHAMRO in the future, especially when musicians retire, were further emphasized by him.

People’s lives are being handled in such a cheerful way because, as a musician, you will not receive a pension at the age of sixty.

“Why do not we give it to someone who knows how to collect these royalties for us? The little royalties that will help the musician become self-sufficient—that one too, we do not know how to collect,” he asked.
