DON’T TRY MUSIC IF YOU DON’T HAVE THE MEANS TO FINANCE IT – DADDY BOAT
Ghanaian musician and Songwriter Wesley Kwame Boateng, popularly known as Daddy Boat,
disclosed that music now involves a huge amount of money.
In an interview with Afia Owusu, host of XZONE on TV XYZ, the musician outlined reasons why it is difficult to get your music heard by the public these days.
He stated that, in the past, musicians just composed their songs, and Executive Producers paid the artiste or bought the rights from them. Many artists were excited to have their music out there, and they didn’t even think about the money.
However, it is different now. Most artists finance everything themselves; in terms of promotion on TV, radio, and digital platforms. This has made it difficult for artists to penetrate because they lack financial backing.
In response to why the producers are not willing to sign musicians these days, Daddy Boat said,” Only Executive Producers can tell us the reasons why they don’t sign an artiste, and I don’t believe it is the character the artiste put up towards them.”
“During those days, it was the selling cassettes that was the biggest means of promoting songs, but now, there has been the introduction of Radios, TVs, Social Media, Digital Platforms and others, and this has made the cost more,” he said.
Daddy Boat is out with a new title Kitiwa Biaa Nsua. This song features the legendary KK FOSU and Lindabel.
