Bobrisky sentenced to six months in prison

Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye, also referred to as “Bobrisky,” is a controversial cross-dresser who was sentenced to six months in prison without the possibility of a fine for misusing Nigerian currency (Naira).

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFFC) recalled that Bobrisky had been detained and placed under remand for mishandling and disfiguring the Naira notes.

Bobrisky then entered a guilty plea to a four-count accusation of altering money at an event.

But according to Justice Abimbola Awogboro, the High Court judge, the sentence will act as a deterrent to others who enjoy misusing and disfiguring naira notes.
