Black Sherif wins the Best West African Artiste Of the Year at the Nigerian Headies Awards in Atlanta.

Ghanaian musician Black Sherif has been named the winner of the prestigious Headies Awards 2023’s ‘West African Artist of the Year’ award.


This incredible win cements his position as a dominant force in West African music, with his distinct style and storytelling setting him apart.


The ‘West African Artist of the Year’ category honoured artists of West African descent who significantly contributed to the continent’s music scene during the year.


Black Sherif was chosen because of his undeniable impact and growing global presence.

Although he was also nominated for ‘African Artist of the Year,’ which was ultimately won by Rema, this recognition confirms his far-reaching influence beyond West Africa.


The Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta hosted the Headies Awards 2023, which celebrated African music’s rising prominence on the global stage.
