Beyond Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah is a founding father of Africa – Abeiku Santana
Abeiku Santana, a well-known media figure, has entered the current founders’ day dispute.
He claimed that Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first president of Ghana, was not only responsible for founding the country but also for the African continent.
In his Founders’ Day speech to the state, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo refuted the notion that Kwame Nkrumah was Ghana’s sole founder.
According to the president, giving credit for Ghana’s founding to just one person would be unfair to other national heroes.
Nonetheless, Nana Addo recognized Kwame Nkrumah’s enormous contribution to Ghana’s liberation from colonial rule.
While Kwame Nkrumah’s contributions to our independence are undeniable, it is important to recognize for ourselves that we respect that the struggle for our nation’s freedom was a collective effort spanning several generations. As President Akuffo Addo stated in his broadcast, “I speak to you this evening, rejecting completely the notion that one man founded Ghana.”
Conversations around the country were sparked by the president’s remarks.
In response to the claim, Abeiku Santana wrote on his official X page, “Beyond Ghana, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah is a founding father of Africa! ” and posted a video of the doctor alongside the Big Five at Independence Square. Peridot.
The president was opposed by a number of people, including historian Anokye, veteran journalist Kwesi Pratt, and former president John Dramani Mahama.
They maintain that Ghana was founded by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
