The hitmaker of “Yawa Dey,” who in June 2024 released a campaign song called “Mahama for 2024,” shared his opinion that supporting a political figure should not be a recipe for career failure for an artist.
During an interview on Akoma FM in Kumasi, Nero X gave instances of other musicians who have succeeded in spite of their political beliefs, such as Daddy Lumba and Mr. Beautiful.
“Daddy Lumba is living his best life despite having previously organised and campaigned for the NPP. Mr. Beautiful is also doing well following his previous campaigns for the NDC and Mahama.
“I do not think it is appropriate to denigrate and mistreat people for choosing a political side. It has nothing to do with my future career, as far as I am concerned; I wrote the song and support John Mahama because I think he is the right person to save the country,” he said.

Ghanaians were urged to envision a return to NDC governance for a better future in the music video for “Mahama for 2024,” which debuted on June 19 on Nero X’s YouTube channel.
