Acting pays well in Ghana If you brand yourself well – Victoria Lebene
Victoria Lebene, a well-known actress and businesswoman from Ghana, has stated that strong self-branding is essential for acting success.
In an exclusive interview with Sokoohemaa Kukua of Rainbow Radio, Lebene expressed her opinion that, depending on the role, acting in Ghana pays well. She emphasised that, with strong branding, an actor or actress can command a high salary for their work.
The versatile actress asserts that “you will not get compensated for the work you do if you do not properly brand yourself.” She has therefore counselled her colleagues to properly market themselves if they wish to be paid highly.
Lebene also stated that she evaluates the script to determine whether it would be worthwhile for her to pursue a film rather than chase after everyone. That is what every actor and actress needs to do to look sophisticated, she said.
“I am selective about the movies I do. That is okay for me. If you need to assess your work, you don’t have to look after every movie. You need to have a certain class, and that is what has worked for me. I love it that way.
“If I come across a good script, I will accept it. A good script touches you personally. A good script is not one in which, after release, people will claim that it was a repeated story or a story that was stolen from another movie,” she said.
