Accept the 90-day visa waiver offered by South Africa to Ghana – OB Amponsah to government

Ghanaian comedian OB Amponsah has urged the Ghanaian government to consider accepting South Africa’s offer of a 90-day visa waiver for Ghanaian citizens.

This request comes after the well-known showbiz personality had difficulty obtaining a visa for this weekend’s Bloemfontein International Comedy Festival in South Africa.

OB Amponsah lamented the difficulties he faced in obtaining the visa in a lengthy Facebook post on September 2, 2023, wondering why the Ghanaian government had failed to do the necessary.

“I believe moving forward, there should be (if not national), an industry conversation about visa acquisition especially within Africa,” he suggested. “It is sad to lose out on opportunities like these within your own continent. Whoever is in charge should at least accept the 90-day visa waiver SA is offering us. Ah. What kind of leaders do we have?”

His post follows a similar one he made on Friday, in which he discussed opportunities that awaited him while also expressing frustration with the complicated visa application process for showbiz personalities.

He was perplexed by the difficult visa application process for African travellers within the continent, emphasising that Africans should not face such difficulties when visiting other African countries.
