Ghanaian Highlife Musician, Lucky Mensah has revealed that at some point in his career, he sold his own CDs to survive.
In a chat with Class 91.3 Fm’s Nana Kwesi on ‘the Big Show,’ he stated that beginning his career was a hassle and ‘I had to sell my CDs, from Ashaiman to Odorkor. I used to set up speakers, play the songs while the CDs were being sold at Kantanka.’
Prior to that Lucky’s second and third albums were paid for in cash by N’Akoah Nazareth of Israel King of Jews and a producer respectively.
‘The producer bought my album in 1995. Even though I was paid for those albums, they were never released but I wanted Ghanaians to recognize my talent,’ Lucky Mensah explained.
In response to what his motivation was, veteran musician said ‘I believed in myself, I knew what I could do and also, I didn’t listen to people or follow trends.’
Lucky Mensah became known in 2001 with his hit single, ‘Agogie Baby.’
