LilWin discloses unreleased movie featuring Daddy Lumba after 8 years

“My film features Daddy Lumba, and I am the first and only Ghanaian to do so,” declared LilWin.

But as he put it, “the movie could not be released.”

On Monday, May 13, 2024, at Accra 100.5 FM, the actor and producer discussed Ayekoo Ayekoo with Nana Romeo.

The reason the movie was never released, according to LilWin, was because Daddy Lumba “said he did not look his best.”

“You are aware that women adore me, Kwadwo. In this movie, I do not look good. LilWin, real name Kwadwo Nkansah, thought back to Daddy Lumba’s words and said, “Let us start over again.”

He said he tried to persuade Lumba that his appearance fit the role he was portraying, but he was not successful.

Amakye Dede, Ampong, and Kofi Nti were among the other music stars LilWin disclosed were in the film.

“This movie introduced Ampong to Daddy Lumba,” he recalled, adding that at the time, Daddy Lumba had promised to work with Ampong.

He said, “I love Daddy Lumba,” revealing the reason behind the film. Calling to thank him for his work, Daddy Lumba suggested they collaborate on a film.

He said that he did not waste any time following the call, stating, “It is like Shatta Wale, Rick Ross, Sarkodie, and Stonebwoy asking me to collaborate on a song; I would be ready first thing in the morning.”

Entrepreneur and Kumawood celebrity Daddy Lumba “did not charge me anything,” but instead “gifted me GHS8,000 a couple of times” and provided financial support for the film, the entrepreneur recalled.

“We collaborated on a show at the Miklin Hotel for Thanksgiving as well,” he continued. “After giving me more than GHS10,000, we went back to the movie.”

He stated that Nea Wo Ho Beto Wo by Daddy Lumba had been released and that “that was the song we used as the movie’s soundtrack,” indicating the time period in which this occurred.

But LilWin continued; Daddy Lumba had asked to review the film prior to its release.

“A preview copy was given to him. “He expressed his desire to ensure that he approved of the footage and that nothing offensive would be made public,” LilWin clarified, adding that Lumba “was my rich son in the movie, and we helped a lot of people who were ungrateful later on.”

Soon after the album’s release, he predicted selling “20,000 copies,” but “the next day, I had a call,” he said. Daddy Lumba remarked, “Kwadwo, I enjoyed the movie, but I did not look well.” I told him that was the way it was meant to be because he would go through hardship [at some point], but he insisted that the film be redone.”
